Motorola Solutions Acquires Futurecom Systems Group

CHICAGO — Motorola Solutions (NYSE: MSI) announces it has acquired Futurecom Systems Group, a leading provider of radio coverage extension solutions for public safety agencies, based in Ontario, Canada.

Futurecom designs and manufactures in-vehicle, fixed and portable radio frequency (RF) repeaters and extenders exclusively for Motorola Solutions.

These complementary products are critically important to public safety agencies, serving as vital communication “hotspots” to extend and enhance land mobile radio coverage across vast and remote areas without nearby radio towers, according to the company.

“Radio communications are trusted as a lifeline by first responders, and over 800 agencies across the world depend on Futurecom products to remain reliably connected in the line of duty,” says Scott Mottonen, senior vice president, products, Motorola Solutions. “Futurecom is an important part of both our history and our future, and together, we will continue to innovate mission-critical communications for the public safety agencies who trust our solutions to keep their first responders and communities safe.”

For over 30 years, Motorola Solutions says it has collaborated with Futurecom on RF repeaters and extenders that are tightly integrated with Motorola’s radio networks and devices. These solutions are said to help ensure that first responders, even in remote locations, maintain critical communications and advanced features, such as encryption and data services, to do their jobs more safely and securely.

Minnesota AG Calls for Cancellation of Home Security Contracts for Alleged Fraud

STEARNS COUNTY, Minn. — Bring Me the News reports that Minnesota’s Attorney General, Keith Ellison, says he’s gotten consumers in Stearns County out of home security contracts after they were misled by a door-to-door salesman. According to the report, Ellison’s office announced that home security companies Skyline Security Management and Safe Home Security have agreed to their cancel contracts with customers in and around Stearns County who purchased their systems from door-to-door salesman Gary Harvey. “Door-to-door salesmen and their employers are in the business of trust-building,” Ellison said in a statement. “They know they need to have your trust to sell you their products, particularly expensive products like security systems that are supposed to keep your home safe. When that trust is betrayed, it’s emotionally and financially painful.
