ADT Wins 2022 Police Dispatch Quality Award

FORT WORTH, Texas — ADT was awarded the 17th annual Police Dispatch Quality (PDQ) Award for its ongoing efforts to reduce false alarm dispatches at ESX 2022.

With the introduction of its System Monitoring and Response Technology (SMART), ADT says it is working to help prioritize alarm calls, thus enhancing the partnership between first responders and the electronic security industry.

“This year’s winner, ADT, has demonstrated that the company continues to take a leadership role to promote strong partnerships with public safety agencies and demonstrates how technology can help us enhance these partnerships,” says Stan Martin, SIAC executive director.

The PDQ Award recognizes the best companies that exemplify an all-out effort to reduce alarm dispatches from implementing ECC, Enhanced Call Confirmation (2-calls), to training customers and working closely with law enforcement.

The PDQ Award is sponsored by the Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC), the Partnership for Priority Verified Alarm Response (PPVAR), Security Sales and Integration and the IQ Certification Program.

“ADT’s System Monitoring and Response Technology (SMART) initiative is a game-changer in terms of how law enforcement and customers receive information from electronic security systems,” says Larry Folsom, ADT SVP and chief monitoring officer. “SMART technology builds on previous strategies, such as two-call authentication, by providing new and innovative ways to alert and communicate with alarm site owners and managers of an alarm, faster ways for them to communicate among themselves and help assure police or emergency services are dispatched when they are needed and with the proper priority for the call.”

Martin adds, “ADT’s innovations continue to support our mutual goal of reducing alarm dispatches. ADT’s SMART technology further enhances efforts to dramatically reduce unnecessary false alarm calls for service and prioritize the most urgent calls based on real-time information. The fact that the program has reduced unnecessary dispatches by 54% where it is in use today, is a major milestone for our industry and is deserving of our recognition.”

Past winners of the PDQ Award include industry leaders such as Schmidt Security Pro, Guardian Protection, Alarm Detection Systems, EPS, Amherst Alarm, Habitec, Monitronics and Vector Security.
