Top 10 Security Stories From May 2022: ADT & Motorola Acquisitions, Smart Home Opportunities

The top security stories from May 2022 include a nice mix of topics ranging from acquisitions and profiles, to smart home and emerging technologies.

As always, there were several acquisitions made — and they were all by companies that have been on an acquisition spree over the past several years.

ADT Commercial acquired Denver integrator Key-Rite Security to expand its service coverage and offerings across the state of Colorado. ADT has made numerous commercial acquisitions since launching its new commercial brand at ISC West in 2019. Some notable additions include  Red Hawk Fire & Security and Aronson Security Group.

Motorola is another company that has been snapping up brands to build its new Video Security & Access Control division. This month, the company purchased Videotec, a global provider of ruggedized video security solutions. The purchase is the latest following deals for Avigilon, IndigoVision, Pelco, Envysion, Openpath and Ava Security.

Allied Universal continued its acquisition strategy in North America by acquiring Hawaii-Based Star Protection Agency. It seems like Allied is good for nearly an acquisition per month between its guarding services and integration business, which it has been bolstering since acquiring Dallas-based integrator Securadyne Systems in 2019.

In non-M&A-related news, AI was a popular topic thanks to the latest solution from Patriot One and features on security robots and addressing industrial fires. You can view all these stories and more in the slideshow.
