CEDIA Expo Update: Keynote to Be Streamed; 50 Classes Offered On-Demand

FISHERS, Ind. — CEDIA doesn’t want integrators to short-change themselves in terms of keeping abreast of the latest technologies and business education; thus, the association has announced it is making the CEDIA Expo 2021 keynote viewable remotely and 50 of its educational sessions will be available on demand for those not coming Indiana in person next week.

The virtual training was necessitated due to the heightened concerns among the custom integration community to the Delta variant of COVID-19. In a message to the industry, co-interim CEOs Giles Sutton and Kory Dickerson said:

CEDIA Expo has always represented an opportunity to connect with the entire CEDIA community. That’s no less true this year, even as the re-escalating COVID crisis is poised to prevent many from attending in person.

We recognize that some of you may have already set aside the time to attend the show, but have changed your plans. As you update your calendar, CEDIA would like to encourage you to preserve the time you had set aside for training or certification. Don’t shortchange your professional development: the CEDIA Expo education program is open to remote participants.

As the industry’s association, CEDIA is committed to creating a valuable experience for attendees whether they are participating in person or from home. We are pleased to share that all Expo attendees – virtual and in-person – will have the opportunity to kick off the show with Dr. Poppy Crum’s opening keynote. Her talk will be available on-demand for all registrants – starting the show with the true spirit of community and technology innovation.

CEDIA is making a significant portion of our education program available on-demand. Nearly 50 sessions from CEDIA Expo will be available throughout the month of September, including technical deep-dives, panels debating the future of the industry, and project management seminars. The On-Demand Training Pass, available in CEDIA Expo Registration, is the next best thing to being there.

For those of you attending in-person, we want to assure you that CEDIA’s onsite programs, including in-person and hands-on training, personalized certification prep, and free show floor presentations, will be stacked with the take-aways you need to develop your technical skills and build your business.

There is still time to take advantage of the All Access CEDIA Training Pass, which allows you to fit an unlimited number of CEDIA education sessions into your schedule. We’re also offering certification testing onsite, including the brand new beta version of the Integrated System Technician (IST) exam.

We are keeping the health and safety of attendees and our staff top of mind by implementing our own safety procedures in addition to those recommended by Emerald, the show owners. All CEDIA Education rooms will be socially-distanced, include additional cleaning and disinfecting, and we’ll be providing masks to all instructors and students in each room. Our staff will also be fully-masked, and we will provide face coverings for all visitors to our booth.

We believe that tradeshows are critical to the industry’s success and that by prioritizing safety, we can create ways for the entire global community to participate. We look forward to CEDIA Expo and all it has in store.

We hope you will join us — in-person or at home — and keep this vibrant industry united.

CEDIA Expo, owned by SSI’s parent company Emerald, begins Aug. 31 with preshow conference sessions and show floor programming running Sept. 1-3. The event is expected to attract more than 10,000 home integration professionals and over 300 exhibitors.
