How Cloud Sensors Increase Sensibility for VSaaS
For decades, alarm dealers have attached simple sensors to send an alert if a basement is flooding or the temperature dropped in a boiler room, for example. Today, wireless Cloud-based sensors can be deployed in places they’ve never been used so organizations can gain valuable insights into their operations with actionable data.
Small battery-powered sensors, long-range wireless connectivity, and a secure Cloud-hosted backend can be used to monitor critical aspects of operations and send immediate notifications when customer-defined thresholds are breached.
Wireless remote temperature sensors are popular with chefs, refrigeration maintenance companies, manufacturers, school cafeteria managers, and datacenter technicians because they can accurately monitor and ensure their refrigeration system is operating properly and efficiently. They are instantly alerted if a power failure, blackout or human error occurs.
These new wireless sensors can be installed in less than 15 minutes with no wires to run and no software to be installed. A simple understanding of the facility’s Internet/WiFi system and optimal placement of sensors for wireless connectivity are all that’s required.
Sensors automatically connect to a gateway and the Cloud. Configuring a console is all that’s needed for data visualization, setting thresholds and notifications.
Temperature sensors are the most popular. Other sensors include motion detection, activity detection, tilt, vibration, electric current and electric voltage. The options are limitless.
Sensors included with most security alarm systems are local only to the facility and do not integrate with the notification system nor Cloud data storage.
Cloud-based sensor systems ensure all events are logged and acted upon immediately. The Cloud monitoring system is typically purchased as an annual subscription on either a per-sensor or per-site basis. Billing can be managed by the reseller or the vendor.
Some sensors can easily integrate with video and sensor data, providing customers with valuable operational insight and a more robust video surveillance system. Email notifications can include images from multiple cameras corresponding to the exact time of a notification event. Upon receipt, users can log in to a dashboard to view before and after video of the environment and equipment located by the sensors.
Customers benefit from door contact, motion, and distance sensors that add valuable insights and create a more robust video security system.
With real-time data, analytics and notifications, the possibilities are endless for customers looking to both secure and monitor day-to-day workflows, facilities and machines.
