'Stay safe and stay home:’ new automated robocall going around

As phone scams become more prevalent, Calgary police say people need to take a moment to pause when someone poses as a government agency. They urge people to not answer the calls, or just hang up if it feels suspicious.

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – A new unfamiliar robocall is making its way through phones across Canada.

No, its not a CRA scam, or someone claiming you owe money only payable by gift cards, it’s an automated voice saying, “Stay home. Stay safe and stay home.”

Many people on social media reported getting the call:


The earliest call reported on social media was at the beginning of May.

660 NEWS reached out to the Canada Radio-Television and Telecommunications (CRTC) who said it does not comment on ongoing investigations.
